Kształtowanie się ideologii władzy w Soyo w II połowie XVII w.

Abstrakt

Prowincja Soyo dzięki swojemu położeniu odgrywała ważną rolę w kontaktach Konga z Europą. Także ze względu na położenie wpływy europejskie w prowincji były silniejsze niż w innych regionach Konga. Od 1645 r. istniała tam stała placówka kapucynów. W latach czterdziestych XVII w. ośrodek ten praktycznie uniezależnił się od Konga, dzięki kilkukrotnemu pokonaniu sił kongijskich. Elita polityczna stworzyła ideologię władzy wykorzystującą wiele elementów tradycji kongijskiej. Zawierała ona odwołania do chrześcijaństwa, ale jednocześnie podkreślała odrębność i wyjątkowość Soyo uzyskaną dzięki zwycięstwom nad Kongiem.
